Little-known washing machine button will dry your clothes faster in colder months

As the chilly autumn and winter months roll in, drying clothes becomes a daunting task. But one savvy woman has now shared a little-known tip that could have your garments ready to wear much quicker.

The struggle of drying laundry indoors is all too familiar for many in Britain, especially when longing for the quick-drying ease of warm summer days. For those on the hunt for methods to limit their laundry drying time, a cleaning guru's suggestion may be the perfect solution.

Decluttering expert Nicola Lewis, who shares her top tips with nearly 200k followers on her Instagram account @thisgirlcanorganise, recently revealed a 'secret' feature on washing machines that can significantly reduce moisture in clothes whilst the weather is colder.

In her latest Instagram video titled "How to dry your clothes indoors", Nicola demonstrates switching her washing machine to the "Drum/Spin" setting, highlighting the method with the phrase "Double Spin for the Win."

Nicola suggests an effective way to get your washing more dry directly after the wash cycle is by keeping the clothes in the drum for an additional spin cycle, reports the Mirror.

This doesn't add any water but gives your clothes an extra spin to extract more moisture. The caption on her reel reads: "Double spin your laundry! Your clothes will come out much drier allowing them to dry quicker. Always give your clothes a quick shake before hanging to dry to remove any creases."

Nicola then shares her method for drying clothes indoors. She advises grabbing an airer and setting up a dehumidifier, explaining in her caption: "A dehumidifier will draw moisture from the air and dry your clothes quicker. If you don't have a dehumidifier open a window and place the airer near natural light."

She also suggests using a fan to "circulate cold air helping your clothes to dry faster and prevent mould", adding that it's "cheaper than putting the heating on". Nicola reminds viewers to space out clothes on the airer and hang them on hangers first to "speed up the drying process".

She also recommends rotating the clothing a few times. Nicola's followers were quick to express their gratitude for her sage advice, with one writing: "We've just invested in a dehumidifier and it's bloody amazing."

Meanwhile, another added: "No more condensation on the windows and that battle with mould feels like a distant memory!"
