Disgraced news presenter Huw Edwards could rake in up to £2 million if his mortgage-free house is sold as part of his expected divorce.

The former News at 10 presenter was this week given six months imprisonment, suspended for two years, after he pleaded guilty to having made seven Category A indecent images of children - the worst type - as well as 12 Category B, and 22 Category C images. Westminster Magistrates Court heard details of Edwards' sickening interactions with convicted paedophile Alex Williams who, between the years 2018 and 2021, sent the father-of-five indecent images of children - including two videos of a boy believed to be aged between seven and nine years old.

Huw and his wife Vicky Flind bought a £1.85 million home in Dulwich in 2006. In recent years, similar homes in the immediate area have sold for between £4-6million. The star could earn half the proceeds of the mortgage-free home if the settlement with his wife is split down the middle as experts claim.

"It’s likely to be a balanced and equal split. He will do well from any divorce. I would imagine it would be a 50/50 split," said freelance divorce lawyer Martin Perfect. He also added that it would be a "fairly straightforward" situation. "It has been a long marriage. There are of course grounds for unreasonable behaviour based on what he has admitted and his general conduct.”

Perfect added: “Everyone has the conclusion his career is finished. He will not be able to earn the sums he once did. This could well be an argument for an equal split and an argument against the idea that she should get more." The Mirror has reached out to his representatives for comment.

The presenter's public facade cracked when, in November, the BBC was informed 'in confidence' that he'd been 'arrested on suspicion of serious offences'.

He was suspended from his position but remained on the payroll and was charged on June 26. On July 31, Westminster Magistrates Court heard how Edwards admitted to having made seven Category A - the worst category - indecent images of children, as well as 12 Category B, and 22 Category C images. This includes two videos of a boy thought to be between the ages of seven and nine years old.

The Metropolitan Police Force previously shared that the TV presenter was exposed by chance, during a probe relating to convicted paedophile Alex Williams.
