Two men charged after boat crashes into Mandurah jetty

Two men who allegedly crashed a boat into a Mandurah jetty last month have been charged with drunk driving.

The incident occurred around 6.50pm on May 28, when police received several reports of a collision involving a 4½ runabout and a timber jetty beneath the Mandurah Estuary Bridge.

Marine Rescue assisted to recover the two men on board the boat and towed the damaged vessel to a nearby boat ramp.

The men, 23 and 29, were taken to hospital with non–life-threatening injuries.

They underwent breath tests and have since both been charged with navigation of a vessel while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

One will appear in Mandurah Magistrates Court today, while the other is due to appear in the same court next month.
