Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is still not a million seller on Switch or Switch 2
The newest Metroid Prime game has, however, combined for a million sales between the two consoles.
by Donovan Erskine · ShacknewsMetroid Prime 4: Beyond launched last fall after years of anticipation, but has struggled to become a major hit like other first-party Nintendo games released in recent months. As can be concluded from Nintendo’s latest earnings release, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has yet to sell a million copies on either the Switch or Switch 2.
The fact was confirmed through the omission of Metroid Prime 4 on a list of games that have sold a million copies on the Switch or Switch 2 during Nintendo’s latest fiscal year. It should be clarified, though, that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has sold a cumulative million copies total when combining the sales on Switch and Switch 2. Still, this makes it one of the lower-performing Nintendo first-party releases since the launch of the Switch 2.
It’s worth noting that Nintendo’s fiscal year ended in March, so Metroid Prime 4: Beyond could be close to hitting the million-copy milestone on one of its platforms. However, we’ll have to wait until the next quarterly earnings to see. I scored Metroid Prime 4: Beyond a 9 in my December review.
As for the rest of Nintendo’s report, the company announced that Pokemon FireRed and Pokemon LeafGreen sold over four million copies on the Switch and Switch 2. The Big N also revealed that it will increase the price of the Switch 2 this September.
