With Facebook (Meta) having released its Q3 2026 earnings results, it also shared the details of what it spent on its Reality Labs division. It was, once again, a lot. A drop in the bucket compared to its revenue, but still $4.1 billion spent on VR/AR/XR products, research, and development.

Meta released its Q3 2026 earnings results on its investor relations website. That number was down against a loss of $4.62 billion from the last quarter and also less than the $4.43 billion in losses recorded in Q3 2025.

While Reality Labs is almost always responsible for significant losses at Meta, the company continues to be one of the few tech giants out there that invests heavily into the VR/AR space. The company was said to have bought over 40 AV/VR patents from Sony throughout 2026 and just announced new XR wearables coming in spring 2027.

With another quarter in the books and the Reality Labs losses recorded, stay tuned to the Meta topic for more updates.
