by COLlive Editor · COLliveAn emotional simcha brought joy this week as Rabbi Major Liraz Zeira, who was severely wounded in battle and lost both of his legs, welcomed the birth of a baby boy.
The couple’s sixth child was born at Shaare Zedek Medical Center to Rabbi Zeira and his wife, Anat.
Rabbi Zeira was critically injured during combat on Erev Sukkos last year, suffering wounds that led to the amputation of both legs. Since then, he has inspired many with his unwavering emunah and determination, undergoing an intensive rehabilitation process while continuing to share messages of hope, strength, and Jewish resilience.
In a moving video released from the hospital, Rabbi Zeira is seen standing on his prosthetic legs while holding his newborn son and reciting the bracha of “Hatov VeHameitiv” with deep emotion.
“What a joy,” he said. “My incredible wife gave birth to a son for us. It’s simply healing — an unbelievable and uplifting feeling.”
Addressing viewers, Rabbi Zeira shared a heartfelt message to Klal Yisroel.
“I wanted to share with all of you this incredible gift that Hashem gave us,” he said. “I want to bless all of Klal Yisroel that, with Hashem’s help, everyone should merit healing. A child who arrives brings healing to the entire family. May everyone merit to heal from all difficulties, and may we celebrate together in many simchos.”
Rabbi Zeira also thanked the medical staff and those supporting him throughout his recovery, concluding with gratitude to the Ribbono Shel Olam for the tremendous kindness shown to his family.
