Floods hit eight houses in Kampung Peninjau Baru near Bau

KUCHING (Oct 14): Floods struck eight houses in Kampung Peninjau Baru, at Jalan Bau-Kuching near here, said to have been triggered by the afternoon downpour today.

A spokesperson from Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak said the call about the incident was received at 3.25pm.

Firefighters from the Bau station were sent to the scene to assess the situation on the ground.

“It is found that flash floods struck Kampung Peninjau Baru, at Jalan Bau-Kuching.

“A total of eight houses were flooded, with the water being at the depth of one to two feet,” he said in a statement.

However, no evacuation was done as the water had already begun to subside upon the arrival of the firefighters.

The operation ended at 4.39pm.
