Bawang Assan rep gives out RM320,000 in MRP fund to 15 bodies in Sibu

SIBU (Nov 7): Bawang Assan assemblyman Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh handed out Minor Rural Project (MRP) funds worth RM320,000 to 15 organisations in Sibu yesterday.

The recipients were Tieng Ang Methodist Church; SM Wong Nai Siong School Board; Sibu Guang Ning Association; Sibu Hindu Temple Association; Sarawak Central Chiang Hsia Huang Clan Association; Sibu Foochow Hok Lin; and Sarawak 3rd, 6th and 7th Divisions Lin Clan Association.

Other recipients included the village, security and development committees (JKKK) of Ensurai Sibu; Sebrang Ensurai/Kunyit Tanjung Pan Sibu; Sungai Empawah Sibu; Rumah Bujang, Sungai Pasai; Sungai Bidut Telok Bango Bukit Igu Sibu; Sungai Maaw Sibu; Bukit Lan Sibu ; as well as neighbourhood committee (RT) of Sungai Empawah.

Speaking at the handover ceremony held at the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Bawang Assan Service Centre, Soon Koh said while there are many applicants, he would do his best in his capacity to give the funding to deserving cases as the people’s representative.

“The MRP fund comes from the government, and by right, every sen should be returned to the people.

“Given the high demand for the fund, I have to try my utmost to ensure it is distributed properly and given to the deserving cases.”

Soon Koh, who is Progressive Democratic Party’s (PDP) senior vice-president, added that the deserving ones who did not receive the fund this year will have the opportunity to do so next year.

Also present were Political Secretary to the Premier Joshua Ting, PDP Bawang Assan chairman Wong Hua, and Soon Koh’s personal assistant Sean Wong.
