MIRI (Dec 30): More than 2,000 people thronged a Christmas open house jointly organised by the Borneo Evangelical Mission (BEM) Long Lama and the Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church Long Lama at SJK (C) Kee Tee, Long Lama, on Saturday.

Telang Usan assemblyman Dato Dennis Ngau said the event, held for the first time in Long Lama, was aimed at sharing the blessings and joy of Christmas with the community in his constituency.

“The event was successfully organised and drew thousands of people from all walks of life, who came together to celebrate the festive season in the true spirit of unity and joy,” he said.

In his speech, Dennis said the Telang Usan constituency and its people have benefitted from a steady flow of development projects, particularly in infrastructure and public amenities, which have contributed to an improved standard of living.

He noted that this progress was made possible through the strong and continuous support of the people for the state government under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He urged the public to continue supporting the state government, adding that more development initiatives are still needed for Telang Usan to catch up with other more developed areas in the state and the country.

Also present was a political secretary to the Premier Dominic Nyurang Ajang.
