Here’s How Much of the $750,000 Prize Money Season 28 Winner Rick Devens Actually Gets to Keep

It’s been 12 long weeks, but Big Brother Season 28 is officially over—and one lucky person won the grand prize of $750,000. Said lucky person in question? Rick Devens. But if you’re wondering how much of that $750,000 prize Rick actually got at the end of the day, the answer is...certainly not all of it!

According to The Sun, Rick will only get a fraction of his prize money due to taxes. They crunched the exact numbers and reported that he’ll keep approximately $400,000, while the remaining $350,000 will go to combined state and federal taxes. Though, Rick also won favorite player of Big Brother 28 after America voted, which is another $50,000, pre-tax.

Meanwhile, second-place winner Taylor Brown walked away with a $75,000 cash prize (though, after taxes that will also be a bit lower), while third-place winner Drew Campbell walked away with $10,000 before taxes.

The Big Brother prize has gone up significantly since the show started. When it first premiered in 2020, the winner took home $500,000, but in 2021, the award increased by $250,000.

As for how Rick plans to spend his money, he told Entertainment Weekly he wants to reunite with his family and thank them for the sacrifice they made by letting him go on the show.

“I missed them like crazy. I think they missed me too,” he said. “They made a huge sacrifice to let me go on the show, and I can’t wait to make that up to them. And luckily, I’ve got a lot of money to help me do that.”
