Dermot Mulroney Joins Horror-Thriller ‘Dead of the Night’ (EXCLUSIVE)
by Marc Malkin · VarietyDermot Mulroney has joined the cast of the upcoming indie horror-thriller “Dead of the Night.”
At the same time, it was announced that Scott Grimes (“Ted,” “Oppenheimer,” “Robin Hood”), Julianne Arrieta (“Reagan,” “Freelance”) and Kirrilee Berger (“Unsung Hero,” “One Dollar”) have also signed on for the movie.
The film is directed by Derek Sulek and produced by Sulek, Oren Kamara and Dan Sheldon, with Jijo Reed serving as co-producer. Executive producers include Grimes, Ann Koch, Doug Johnson and Matthew Ballard. The script was penned by Eric Durham and Sulek, with production currently underway in Los Angeles under Fade to Black Films.

Per the logline, “after the mutilated body of a teenage girl is discovered in Elmwood Heights, the newly elected mayor (Alex Camacho) scrambles to create a neighborhood watch, desperate to calm the growing hysteria. But as the gruesome murders continue, Sheriff Weaver (Mulroney) struggles to catch the killer, and the town spirals into panic. Sensing a darkness that goes beyond simple murder, the sheriff’s daughter Kelly (Berger), becomes obsessed with uncovering the killer’s twisted motives.”
Previously announced cast members include Camacho (“To Kill a Stepfather,” “Silent Night / Fatal Night”), Jake Busey (“Rust,” “Stranger Things”), Zach Justice (“Burb Patrol,” “The Re-Start”) and NOFX’s Aaron “El Hefe” Abeyta (“Easy’s Waltz,” “Mayans”).
Mulroney, who recently joined NBC’s hit procedural drama “Chicago Fire” as the new chief of Firehouse 51, is repped by Paradigm Talent Agency with Grimes repped by Paradigm and Amplified; Arrieta by Buchwald and Berger by Buchwald and Edge Entertainment Management.
