Fremantle’s Original Prods. Hires Alison Damman as Head of Development; Jeff Bumgarner Gets New Oversight

Former Good Caper Content exec Alison Dammann has joined Fremantle‘s Original Productions as head of development. It’s a new job, but fills the oversight previously held by senior VP programming and development Jeff Bumgarner, who has moved into a new role as senior VP of new business development.

As development head, Dammann will oversee content development efforts including new linear TV, streaming and social platform projects. She reports to Brian Lovett, exec VP at Original Prods.

“Over the past few years, OP has continued to evolve, expanding into new genres of entertainment and embracing innovative ways of delivering content to viewers,” said Original Prods. president Jeff Hasler. “Bringing Alison into the company in this new role is an exciting step forward, ensuring that we keep pushing boundaries and taking advantage of all of the unique opportunities to reach our audience in fresh, meaningful ways.”

At Good Caper Content, owned by ITV America, Dammann worked on true crime and investigative projects including Emmy-nominated limited series “Escaping Twin Flames” and “Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey,” both for Netflix; ID’s “Let Us Prey: A Ministry of Scandals”; A&E’s Emmy-nominated “Exposing Parchman” and Oxygen’s “New York Homicide,” “Sins of the South” and “Final Moments.” She has also worked at Vox Media Studios, Mashable Studios and 44 Blue Productions.

As for Bumgarner, who has been with Original Prods. since 2010, in his new role he’ll focus on “new revenue streams via OP’s direct to consumer efforts. The newly created role was designed to further the company’s collaborations and opportunities for brand partnerships, talent deals and co-productions,” the company said.

Original Prods.’ output includes long-running hits “Deadliest Catch” and “Bering Sea Gold” as well as the recent critically acclaimed documentary “Rather,” about the work and life of Dan Rather, and the Netflix docuseries “Waco: American Apocalypse.” The producer was also behind Max’s “Chasing Flavor” and USA’s “Race to Survive.” And the company is behind the FAST channel RIG TV, which includes episodes of “Monster Garage,” “Jay Leno’s Garage,” “Black Gold,” “Swords: Life on the Line,” “Monster House” and “Wild Justice.”
