‘Zootopia 2’ Leads U.K., Ireland Box Office as ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ Looms

Disney’s “Zootopia 2” retained the No. 1 spot at the U.K. and Ireland box office for a third weekend, adding £2.7 million ($3.7 million) and lifting its cumulative total to £15.5 million ($20.9 million), according to Comscore.

Universal’s “Wicked: For Good” held firmly in second place, grossing $2.5 million in its fourth frame. The musical sequel has now amassed $54.9 million, cementing its position as one of the territory’s top-grossing releases of the year. Also for Universal, “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” ranked third, delivering $1.3 million in its sophomore outing for a $7.1 million cume.

Moviegoers Entertainment’s Bollywood action title “Dhurandhar” placed fourth with $801,530, pushing its two-week total to $1.6 million. New release “Fackham Hall,” from Entertainment Film Distributors, debuted in fifth place with £$549,458.

Event cinema remained a fixture in the chart, with Trafalgar Releasing’s “The Nutcracker – ROH, London 2025 (Ballet)” landing in sixth on $303,826, bringing its total to $1.04 million. Lionsgate U.K.’s “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” followed in seventh, adding $291,738 for a cumulative $8.8 million.

Studiocanal’s seasonal slasher “Silent Night, Deadly Night” opened in eighth place with $247,308, narrowly ahead of A24’s “Eternity,” which earned $244,819 in its second weekend for $1.1 million total. Rounding out the top 10, Park Circus’ perennial favorite “Home Alone” returned once again to the chart, grossing $244,753 and lifting its total to $5.1 million.

Looking ahead, the pre-Christmas frame brings a trio of wide-ranging arrivals on Friday, Dec. 19. Disney rolls out James Cameron’s next Pandora chapter, “Avatar: Fire And Ash,” which is set for a major U.K.-Ireland launch across 300+ locations.

Also opening is Eugene Jarecki’s documentary “The Six Billion Dollar Man: Julian Assange and the Price of Truth,” released by Charlotte Street Films, which examines the WikiLeaks founder’s case and broader questions of press freedom through interviews with figures including Assange himself, Edward Snowden and Naomi Klein. Rounding out the day is family-friendly animation “Super Elfkins,” handled by Miracle Comms.
