Nicole Kidman Says Her Oscar Prep Starts With Going to Church: ‘It Centers Me’

by · Variety

Ask most celebrities what they do to get ready for the Oscars and they’ll tell you something about a visit to the gym, maybe getting a massage or having a healthy breakfast.

But not Nicole Kidman.

“This is crazy but I will go to church in the morning,” she told me Saturday night at the Chanel and Charles Finch pre-Oscars dinner at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel. “We’ll be squeezing it in…It just centers me. It’s what I do on a Sunday.”

Kidman is set to present at the Oscars. While her daughters Sunday and Faith attended the Chanel dinner, they won’t be with mom at the Academy Awards or any of the after-parties. “No, it’s a Sunday night,” the “Scarpetta” star said. “They’re on spring break, but we’ll all be sort of just tucking ourselves in, go home, have a bath and go to bed.”

Actually, Kidman added, “I may go out to a party…I should go out.”

In addition to Kidman, the star-studded guest list at Chanel and Charles Finch included Jessie Buckley, Teyana Taylor, Kristen Stewart, Mick Jagger, Sharon Stone, Javier Bardem, Diane Warren, Lily-Rose Depp, Sigourney Weaver, Olivia Munn, Ted Sarandos, May Rudolph, Paul Anthony Kelly, Sarah Pidgeon, Leslie Mann, Judd Apatow Harvey Keitel, Elle Fanning, Regé-Jean Page, Joel Edgerton. “Train Dreams” director Clint Bentley and Josh Safdie.

Hosted by Conan O’Brien, the Oscars take place on March 15 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and will be televised live by ABC and streamed on Hulu.
