Incident details

According to Harian Metro, the 41-year-old victim suffered bruises and swelling on her nose and both hands, as well as strangulation marks on her neck, believed to be a result of the attack.

Alor Gajah District Police Chief Superintendent Ahmad Abu Bakar said the victim had received a booking via an e-hailing app to pick up four passengers in Bukit Rambai before sending them to Kuala Sungai Baru town.

Upon reaching an area near a forest in Kuala Sungai Baru, one of the suspects asked her to stop the vehicle, claiming they were waiting for someone to transfer money into his account online.

“However, the victim became suspicious and started recording the situation using her mobile phone before all the suspects got back into the car,” he said.

The victim later managed to escape by driving away before lodging a police report and seeking treatment at the hospital.
