Move Aside Moo Deng! Zoo Taiping & Night Safari Welcomes Malaysia’s Very Own Adorable Little Baby Hippo
by Renushara · WORLD OF BUZZConsidering the amount of tourism the viral baby hippopotamus, Moo Deng, brought to Thailand, perhaps a little baby hippo of our own could hail the same results, right?
Taiping Zoo & Night Safari recently took to their Facebook page to announce the birth of their very own insanely cute baby hippopotamus.
They wrote, “Taiping Zoo & Night Safari (ZTNS) is pleased to announce the birth of a baby hippo (Hippopotamus amphibius) on June 5, 2024. The baby’s mother, Lek, is 32 years old and comes from Bangkok Zoo, while its father, April, is 22 years old and was born in ZTNS.”
“Before this, Lek gave birth to a hippopotamus in 2016 named Atan. With this new birth, ZTNS now has 4 hippos.”
They also welcomed 16 adorable little Sulcata Tortoises.
“In the same development, ZTNS also celebrated the birth of 16 Sulcata Tortoises (Geochelone sulcata) babies in a successful first breeding for this species at ZTNS,”
“All of these baby tortoises are now undergoing a period of quarantine and close monitoring to ensure good health and development before being shown to visitors,” they added.
