Details of the fateful night
On Friday night, Rok Yew was riding his motorcycle with peers from a fast-food restaurant toward Jalan Perak, where they encountered three Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) officers on patrol. Acting on suspicion, the officers turned back to approach the youths, who then sped off.
One of the officers maintained a 150-metre gap while in pursuit of Rok Yew. However, the teenager hit a bump, lost control of his motorcycle, and fell. He succumbed to head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police findings and final rites
Rok Yew’s father clarified that the teenager held a valid licence and was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. The Kampar District Police Chief verified these facts but noted that Rok Yew had failed to fasten the protective gear.
PDRM also stated that Rok Yew fled from the officer because he feared being fined for his modified motorcycle.
Rok Yew was cremated today (16 March) at 10 AM at the Fu Hao Memorial Park Crematorium in Temoh.
