“Applicants must be registered voters” – S’gor Expands RM30 Monthly Public Transport Subsidy To Cover KTM Komuter

by · WORLD OF BUZZ

More Selangor residents can now benefit from the RM30 Monthly Selangor Public Transport Subsidy, following its expansion to cover KTM Komuter services with immediate effect.

State Investment, Trade and Mobility Committee chairman Ng Sze Han said the move complements the Rapid KL On-Demand and Kumpool services already covered under the scheme, allowing the subsidy to reach more users.

Selangor residents can now enjoy RM30 monthly public transport subsidy!

The initiative is part of the Selangor Resilience Package, which aims to ease the cost of living for residents, particularly workers and students who depend on public transport for their daily journeys, according to BERNAMA.

Managed by Rantaian Mesra Sdn Bhd (RMSB), a company owned by Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) (MBI Selangor), the initiative is carried out in collaboration with transport service providers and digital payment platforms and will run until December 2026.

Ng said more than 90% of subsidy recipients previously chose Rapid KL On-Demand, with those aged 26 to 35 making up the largest user group at 35%.

“With KTM Komuter now included in the scheme, we hope to reach more communities in Selangor and encourage greater use of public transport,” he said.

Selangor government urges eligible voters to apply for the RM30 subsidy

A total of 50,000 quotas are available under the subsidy, which is open to registered Selangor voters. Eligibility is based on voter registration status, rather than their residential or workplace address.

According to Ng, the main eligibility requirements are that applicants must be registered voters in the Kinrara state constituency, aged 18 and above, with a household income of RM3,000 or below, with only one application allowed per household, while existing BINGKAS and Skim Mesra recipients are not eligible to apply.

Eligible applicants can apply through the Nine app by selecting KTM Komuter as their preferred transport service:

  • Once approved, the RM30 monthly subsidy will be automatically credited to their Nine e-wallet
  • The subsidy covers KTM Komuter services in the Klang Valley and Northern sectors, as well as the Southern Shuttle Service
  • Tickets or travel passes can be purchased through the KTMB Mobile or KITS Style apps
  • Select Nine as the payment method when purchasing tickets or travel passes
