Arrest as gardaí investigate death of man in Leitrim

A man in his 30s has been arrested in connection with the death of a man in Co Leitrim last night.

The man, who was aged in his 40s, was found unresponsive following reports of an incident at a house in Arderry, near Carrigallen, shortly after 9pm.

He was treated at the scene by emergency services but pronounced dead a short time later.

Gardaí say they are investigating "all the circumstances" surrounding the man's death.

His body remains at the scene.

A senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the investigation, while the local coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been notified.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination by gardaí.
