FSAI recalls several ready meals due to possible listeria

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has recalled four types of ready meals due to the presence of possible listeria monocytogenes.

Batches of Fit Foods Chicken & Chorizo with Baby Potatoes, Fit Foods Chicken & Stuffing with Potatoes and Gravy, Chef Select High Protein Jamaican Jerk Chicken, and Fresh Kitchen Roast Chicken Dinner have been recalled.

According to the FSAI, symptoms of listeria monocytogenes infection can include mild flu-like symptoms, or gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.

In rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications.

Some people are more vulnerable to listeria monocytogenes infections, including pregnant women, babies, and people with weakened immune systems, including the elderly.

Retailers are requested to remove the affected batches from sale and display, while wholesalers and distributors are requested to contact customers and recall the affected batches.

Consumers have also been advised not to eat the affected batches.
