Amazon announces 200 new jobs in Dublin and pay hike

Online retail giant Amazon has started recruiting for 200 new jobs at its operations sites in Dublin which include its main distribution warehouse in Baldonnel, as well as two delivery stations in Rathcoole and Ballycoolin.

The company said its Baldonnel site, which is known as a "fulfilment centre", now employs 700 people.

It was officially opened in 2022 with the creation of 500 jobs.

Amazon has also announced that the minimum starting pay for frontline operations employees in Ireland is increase to €17.10 per hour.

The new rate, which takes effect from 27 September, represents a €0.65 per hour increase.

"Our frontline employees are at the heart of everything we do, and this pay increase reflects our continued commitment to investing in the people who make Amazon work for customers every day," said Darragh Kelly, Amazon's Regional Director for Logistics in UK and Ireland.

"We're proud that starting pay in Ireland has increased by approximately 27% since 2022," Mr Kelly said.

Almost 6,500 people are employed by Amazon in Ireland.

In January, around 300 jobs were put under threat as part of global job cuts.

A previous round of global redundancies at Amazon last October resulted in around 150 job cuts in Ireland.
