Cost of living and housing on agenda at Fine Gael meeting

Fine Gael's Parliamentary Party will meet in Gorey, Co Wexford, today ahead of the start of the new Dáil term next week.

The upcoming budget, the cost of living and housing are among the topics set to be discussed at the two-day gathering.

Fine Gael says that its main priority heading into the winter is that people benefit in their daily lives from the strength of the economy.

The party has already been framing the language to describe its approach to Budget 2027, which will be outlined on 6 October.

Fine Gael is committing itself to rewarding hard work and reducing the costs facing households, with a particular focus on childcare and energy.

The party will also emphasise the need for increased supports for older people, carers and those with disabilities, while insisting that budget measures must be delivered responsibly to protect the public finances over the longer term.

The delivery of infrastructure, defence, and supports for small businesses and farmers are also on the agenda.
