‘Gestating’ parents and more: Letters to the Editor — June 7, 2026

‘Gestating’ parents

State Sen. Luis Sepúlveda and Assemblywoman Amy Paulin want to rewrite parental laws to be gender neutral (“NY ‘term’inating mother & father,” June 4).

We’ll spend countless dollars eliminating the words “mother” and “father.” Wasting time on this nonsense is just that — nonsense. For God’s sake, do your jobs and stop wasting time and money.

Support for labor

The Post editorial board has reached a new low with its relentless attacks on workers (“New York’s Mafia-esque Unions,” Editorial, June 1).

While families are struggling with rising costs, vanishing jobs and economic uncertainty, we should be coming together to support working people, not vilifying them.

The Post resorts to comparing labor’s fight for better wages, benefits and working conditions to cancer and organized crime. The underlying message is clear: The Post doesn’t believe working people deserve dignity and respect on the job. For shame.

Caring for culprits

Mayor Mamdani and Gov. Hochul fail to realize that putting people who show symptoms of mental illness into a psychiatric ward at a hospital is helping them (“Pal: It’s a ‘capital’ murder,” June 2).

Our current administration seems to disregard the loss of human lives by thinking all culprits should remain free. This is morally misguided. The time has come to invest in more psychiatric care to help culprits when it is appropriate and help save innocent lives.

Stop the slashings

After so many slashings by knife-carrying murderers on commuter railroads, why don’t we have metal detectors working and being used before commuters get into the railroad entryways (“Throat slash vic had knife,” June 3)?

I understand it could be expensive to institute, but isn’t it worth it if we save lives? This country spends so much money on other agendas. If we spent money on this, just think of how much safer our commutes would be, allowing us to travel without being knifed to death by crazy killers. One person knifed to death is one person too many.

Crooked SPLC

The Southern Poverty Law Center, long a cancer on the integrity of America, is reported to have paid the membership fees of reluctant Ku Klux Klan members, and reimbursed them for their KKK costumes and hoods, as well as wood and fire starters used for cross-burning events, all allegedly to help it raise money (“Burning crosses paid for by SPLC,” June 4).

It’s long past the time when this despicable organization should be eradicated. The Post would do a service to its readers by publishing the names of organizations and individuals who financially support this criminal enterprise.

Save the SSA

The Social Security trust fund is ready to go broke — why can’t Congress do their job and fund it (“Soc. Sec. cut 7,100+ jobs,” June 4)?

With price increases far outpacing income growth, Washington piles the misery on hard-working Americans. I can’t see ever voting again.
