In the majority of cases the closer you get to the sea when searching for a new coastal home that will offer you a short walk to a stunning beach, the more you have to pay for the privilege, especially if a sea view is also longed for.

But if you can forget the view, be prepared to do renovation work, and are happy with a cottage that has space potential that has yet to be unlocked, then there are gems to be found that can get you that seaside lifestyle without the probably expected six figure price tag.
