M&S fans see the funny side after retailer's embarrassing mistake

Marks and Spencer has now corrected the error

by · Wales Online

Marks and Spencer fans were left in stitches when they spotted an unfortunate spelling mistake. The UK high street giant advertised a job as a customer assistant in their clothing and home department at one of their stores.

But instead of spelling the store location as "Worcester", they added an "h", as reported by What's The Jam. Many customers were quick to joke about the mistake on social media, as one said: "I think M&S has got an American posting jobs for them…Worchester.”

Another added: “It would have said Woowoostarshar if that was the case.” A third said: ”It's probably just a typo from someone out of the country. I don't think I've ever had to write the name for this place and I'd have to look up the correct spelling too.”

A fourth asked: “Where is it again?” and another said: “It could be Wuster, we should be thankful for small mercies.” A sixth added: “Hi, I'm Ed Worchester.”

The part time role is paying £12 per hour and closes next Wednesday, October 16. The successful candidate can expect to work on a two-week shift pattern.

Marks & Spencer have since altered the job advert to say "Worcester" after being alerted to the error. M&S - famed for it's 'Not just any…” advertising campaign - has been approached for comment.
