Rightmove's most viewed homes of 2024 includes the jaw-dropping mansion of a football legend

by · Wales Online

Around this time every year Santa brings an early Christmas present to anyone obsessed with property or anyone who loves to have a nose inside someone else's home - Rightmove's most online viewed properties of the year. The short but sensational list always includes some of the most jaw-dropping homes that went on the market and featured on the property portal, and all offer a taste of what life might be like living in a home that costs millions of pounds.

It is no surprise that the most viewed home of the year was the former home of Liverpool Football Club's ex-manager Jurgen Klopp, in the prestigious area of Freshfields in Formby, a few miles from the city. The sprawling house was once the home of club legend Steven Gerrard too, who bought it in 2005 and sold it on in 2015 - who wouldn't want to have a nose inside a footballer's luxury home?

The massive mansion with a huge detached leisure suite, gym and spa in the garden, called a pavilion, was put on the market by Liverpool Football Club with Berkeley Shaw Real Estate for £4.25m after new manager Arne Slott decided to live elsewhere. William Goulden, Head of Sales at Berkeley Shaw in Liverpool said: "This is an exceptional home in a beautiful part of the country. Many will be aware of the property's recent history, and we look forward to playing a part in its future."

Four more incredible houses join Klopp's former abode on this year's list and they include a nine-bed Knightsbridge period property just around the corner from Buckingham Palace and on the market for a staggering £45m on the UK's most expensive street. There's also a nine-bed Georgian gem in Glasgow for sale for a lot less, but still eye-watering at £2.5m, a huge house in Accrington, plus a historic Grade I listed abbey in Oxfordshire on the market with a guide price of £15m.

Rightmove’s property expert, Tim Bannister, said: "From a luxurious former football manager’s residence to a historic Grade I listed Abbey, the most viewed homes of the year reflect the wide-ranging dreams of home-hunters this year across Great Britain. Whether it’s a property fit for royalty opposite Buckingham Palace, or a stunning family home, these remarkable listings showcase the unique charm and diversity of the UK housing market, offering something for everyone."
