Anthropic secured full compute access at SpaceX’s Colossus 1 data center before the company’s planned June IPO. The agreement grants Anthropic control of more than 220,000 NVIDIA GPUs within weeks. The move expands Claude services while SpaceX prepares public listing documents.

Anthropic Locks In Colossus 1 Capacity

Anthropic confirmed Wednesday that it signed an agreement with SpaceX for Colossus 1 compute capacity. The deal grants access to over 220,000 NVIDIA GPUs within the month. The company said it will use the capacity to expand Claude services.

The agreement increases resources available to Claude Pro and Claude Max subscribers. Anthropic raised Claude Opus API rate limits and doubled Claude Code five-hour limits. The changes apply to Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans effective Wednesday.

Anthropic stated that the SpaceX partnership strengthens its compute network. A company spokesperson said, “This agreement supports growing demand across our paid tiers.” The company confirmed that capacity will support both domestic and international customers.

The Colossus 1 arrangement adds to several existing infrastructure contracts. Anthropic previously secured up to 5 gigawatts of compute capacity from Amazon. That agreement includes nearly 1 gigawatt expected online before year-end.

The company also entered a 5-gigawatt agreement with Google and Broadcom. That capacity will come online in 2027 under the signed contract. Anthropic further announced a $30 billion Azure capacity partnership with Microsoft and NVIDIA.

In addition, Anthropic disclosed a $50 billion U.S. infrastructure investment with Fluidstack. These agreements expand the company’s compute footprint across multiple regions. Each contract outlines staged deployment schedules over the coming years.

SpaceX Expands Infrastructure Pitch Before IPO

SpaceX filed confidentially with the SEC on April 1 for an initial public offering. The filing targets a valuation between $1.75 trillion and $2 trillion. The public S-1 filing is expected by late May.

The company plans to launch its IPO roadshow during the week of June 8. SpaceX now lists AI infrastructure as a disclosed revenue line. The Anthropic agreement adds a named compute customer before the offering.

A SpaceX representative confirmed the Colossus 1 contract terms remain active ahead of listing. The company continues expanding its terrestrial data center operations. It also confirmed interest in orbital compute services.

Anthropic indicated it may partner with SpaceX for orbital compute capacity. The company stated it continues discussions on future space-based infrastructure. These talks remain separate from the Colossus 1 agreement.

Anthropic also confirmed ongoing international expansion to meet data residency rules. The company targets regulated industries that require localized infrastructure. It said expanded compute access will support these deployments.

The Colossus 1 agreement takes effect within weeks of SpaceX’s expected roadshow. Anthropic confirmed all service changes began Wednesday. The IPO roadshow remains scheduled for the week of June 8.
