Giti Tire – now in top 10 most valuable tyre brands in the world, OE fitment on 80 plus models in Malaysia
by Harvinder Sidhu · Paul Tan's Automotive NewsWhile Giti Tire is building a broader retail familiarity in Malaysia, globally, the brand is already trusted by some of the automotive industry’s most demanding manufacturers. From Tesla and BMW to BYD, Proton and Zeekr, Giti tyres are already fitted as original equipment (OE) on vehicles driven by millions worldwide, reflecting a level of engineering validation that extends far beyond aftermarket positioning.
Today, Giti is ranked amongst the world’s Top 10 most valuable tyre brands, a rise driven not purely by marketing visibility, but increasingly by manufacturer trust, engineering capability and real-world performance validation.
The Singapore-headquartered tyre manufacturer has spent more than 70 years building its presence globally, with state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities across Indonesia, China and the United States, alongside a worldwide R&D and technical development network spanning Germany, the USA, China and Indonesia. Beyond infrastructure, one of the strongest indicators of the brand’s progress lies in its expanding OEM presence.
Its growth in recent years has been driven by its tyres being selected as Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) tyres by nearly three dozen manufacturers around the world, with more than 300 passenger car models coming factory-fitted with Giti tyres globally. In China, the world’s largest and most competitive EV manufacturing market, one in every eight new energy vehicles produced is equipped with Giti tyres, reflecting the brand’s increasing relevance within one of the world’s most competitive automotive markets.
Why are automotive manufacturers choosing Giti? For vehicle manufacturers, tyre selection is never based on branding alone. Original equipment fitment requires extensive validation across areas such as wet grip, rolling resistance, high-speed stability, durability, comfort, noise control and long-term consistency. This is where Giti’s growing OEM footprint becomes significant.
Closer to home, more than 80 vehicle models in Malaysia are factory-fitted with Giti tyres, spanning both internal combustion and electric vehicle platforms, reflecting the brand’s ability to meet evolving engineering requirements across different vehicle categories. For those looking at aftermarket solutions, their presence proves that Giti is not an emerging option, but one that is already entrenched at the OE level.
These fitments are broad ranging, with brands such as Proton, Chery, Jaecoo, Jetour and Zeekr using various Giti tyres, models that the company says offers a balanced combination of control, comfort and durability engineered for local road and climate conditions.
Among the vehicles equipped with Giti tyres are the Proton eMas 7, Zeekr X, iCaur 03 and BYD M6, all equipped with the GitiControl P10. Meanwhile, models such as the Proton X50 and X70, Omoda 5 and Jetour Dashing are equipped with GitiComfort F50 tyres. The recently-launched Jetour T2 is also equipped with Giti 4×4 AT71 tyres as standard fitment.
For consumers, this changes the conversation entirely. Giti is not entering the market as an unknown alternative, but as a brand already trusted by the engineers behind the vehicles themselves. The company says this trust comes from years of engineering development focused on real-world performance, accelerated product validation and evolving OEM requirements, particularly within the EV segment, where demands on rolling resistance, load handling, thermal stability and cabin noise are significantly higher.
The company’s engineering development is supported by a global R&D network alongside validation work conducted through internationally recognised facilities such as HORIBA MIRA in the United Kingdom, a testing and development centre widely used by global automotive manufacturers.
In 2025, the specially-developed GitiSport e.GTR2 Pro gained international attention after supporting the BYD Yangwang U9 Xtreme in setting a new production car world speed record of 496.22 km/h, reinforcing the brand’s growing reputation in high-performance tyre engineering.
The same philosophy extends into motorsports, where the brand has maintained involvement for more than 25 years. Its participation in endurance racing events such as the Nürburgring 24 Hours provides engineering teams with valuable high-stress testing environments that accelerate compound development, structural durability analysis and performance consistency research under conditions far beyond normal road usage.
Through its partnership with WS Racing, Giti has consistently fielded multiple vehicles at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, securing podium finishes and class victories while continuing to use motorsports as a platform for technical validation and development. According to the company, insights gathered from these programmes are directly transferred into consumer tyre development, particularly in areas involving wet handling stability, thermal management and long-distance durability.
Beyond motorsports, Giti is currently supporting Rainer Zietlow in his Guinness World Record attempt to drive across 75 countries and more than 80,000 km in a Volkswagen ID. Buzz equipped with GitiSynergy H2 tyres, further reinforcing the brand’s focus on endurance, efficiency and real-world reliability.
For Malaysian consumers, the shift may ultimately be one of perception. While Giti’s retail presence continues to grow across the market, the brand has already spent years building credibility where it matters most — with the vehicle manufacturers themselves. Increasingly, that engineering trust is becoming visible not just on racetracks and test facilities, but on the very vehicles Malaysians drive every day. Find out more about Giti here.
