Fortnite's Fortnitemares 2026 adds Five Nights at Freddy's Fazbear and friends this spooky season

Uncle Pete's Pizza Pit is in for some deadly competition this week, as Fortnitemares 2026 prepares to host a Fortnite x Five Nights at Freddy's collaboration at the opening of the battle royale's yearly horror-themed update.

Fortnite's annual terror show is gearing up for its 10th iteration, with the Fortnitemares release date set for Thursday, October 1. It seems Freddy Fazbear will be leading the charge to terrify the poor inhabitants of the battle royale island. Given the sheer volume of collabs Fortnite has hosted at this point, that puts pretty much every known character under the sun on his potential victim list.

"It's almost showtime!" Reads the YouTube description to the collaboration reveal video. "The Fazbear Band has taken over Battle Royale. Face the animatronic animal bosses and survive the night… if you can."

Freddy Fazbear isn't the only skin we've been shown so far. The reveal trailer for Fortnite's Five Nights at Freddy's collab also features the uncomfortably creepy faces of Chica the Chicken and Bonnie the Bunny, both stalwart scarers since the very first Five Nights at Freddy's game released way back in 2014. 

From the looks of things, it appears a new Five Nights at Freddy's-themed mode or location will be included, with players who are able to survive Fazbear and his cohort's harrowing antics then able to take control of the lethal animatronics before hunting down other players. Because scaring is sharing, right?

Five Nights at Freddy's creator Scott Cawthon previously mentioned in a YouTube interview that he was very careful with collaborations to "make sure that Five Nights at Freddy's stays as Five Nights at Freddy's," which had led many to suspect that a Fortnite crossover was off the cards. How the characters and world will be implemented in Fortnitemares has yet to be revealed, but it seems there's every likelihood that Epic Games' behemoth battle royale shooter will soon have Freddy and co. sprinting around and hitting the griddy alongside Ghost Face and Doja Cat soon.

Fortnitemares is typically a month-long affair, with new modes and skins arriving alongside a spooky revamp of popular locations on the island. Five Nights at Freddy's will join a long list of horror icons including Poppy's Playtime's Huggy Wuggy, the Scooby-Doo gang, Art the Clown, and Jason Voorhees, who have found their way onto the battle bus. The bigger question is which of them would be most likely to thank the driver instead of killing them.

Fortnitemares launches October 1, so expect more details on the 10th edition of Fortnite's annual horror show and how Five Nights at Freddy's fits into it. Spare a moment to think of poor Sora, who only recently arrived in a Fortnite x Kingdom Hearts collab and now has to face everything Fortnitemares entails.
