2 killed in Magna crash on I-80

MAGNA — Two people died Sunday night in a crash on I-80, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

The crash closed westbound I-80 at 7200 West after multiple vehicles collided about 10:40 p.m., said UHP Cpl. Eddie Wright. Troopers initially said there were three vehicles involved, but later said there were five, including a semitruck.

Two people died. They were passengers from separate vehicles and were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Lt. Cameron Roden.

Two other people were taken to the hospital with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

One of the cars had been overturned in the crash. Two other cars involved also sustained extensive damage.
