Xabi Alonso has been linked with a move to the Premier League after his departure from Real Madrid.
Chelsea are keeping tabs on his situation, and they could look to appoint the Spaniard as their next manager. They parted ways with Liam Rosenior recently and have since been linked to multiple managers. They are keeping tabs on Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth and Marco Silva of Fulham, as per FussballDaten.
It remains to be seen whether they can get the deal done for the former Real Madrid manager. Also is a talented young manager with a bright future and he is highly rated across Europe. Even though he was shown the door at Real Madrid, he did reasonably well at the Spanish club.
He has shown his quality at Bayer Leverkusen. He helped the German club break the Bayern Munich stranglehold and win the league title.
There is no doubt that he has the pedigree to manage a top Premier League club. The opportunity to take over at Chelsea could be exciting for him.
Xabi Alonso had a 74% win rate in La Liga (72% overall) as Real Madrid manager, higher than Zinedine Zidane managed in both of his spells with the club and higher than Ancelotti.
There is no doubt he could develop into a top-class manager with the right project and backing. Chelsea have talented players at their disposal and the resources to further improve the team. If they are willing to be patient with the Spaniard, he could help them put together a formidable theme for the future.
Iraola and Silva could be interesting options for Chelsea as well. They are well settled in English football, and they could make an immediate impact.
