U.S. targets Syrian conglomerate with sanctions for funding IRGC-QF, Houthis
by Darryl Coote · UPINov. 14 (UPI) -- The Biden administration sanctioned a Syrian conglomerate on Thursday, accusing it of using oil proceeds to fund Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps-Quds Force and Houthi militants, who have been attacking U.S. forces in the Middle East.
In total, 26 companies, people and vessels linked to the Al-Qatirji Company were blacklisted Thursday by the U.S. Treasury, which said the conglomerate generates hundreds of millions of dollars for Iran's elite military unit and its proxy militia through the sale of Iranian oil to Syria and China.
