However, recent research from AB Drylining has highlighted that some of the most budget-friendly streets for home buying are nestled within picturesque towns and villages. From quaint lanes to historic homes, there are areas offering affordable options for those keen to invest in stunning surroundings.

In towns where the average house prices frequently hit £406,751, finding both affordability and charm might seem like a tall order. Yet, the research reveals that the delightful market town of Ludlow is a hidden treasure where properties have recently changed hands for less than £100,000

A haven for history buffs, foodies, and nature enthusiasts, the 11th-century Ludlow Castle sits at the town's heart, boasting Norman, Medieval, and Tudor architecture. As per the town's visitor website, the castle was instrumental in Ludlow's development and has been involved in key events in British history.

Most notably, it once housed the Prince of Wales and his brother in 1473 before their tragic and mysterious demise at the Tower of London. Today, visitors can savour breathtaking views of Shropshire's countryside and the Welsh Marches from this magnificent historical site, reports the Mirror.

Ludlow, renowned as a haven for food enthusiasts with its plethora of fantastic eateries and the annual Ludlow Food and Drink Festival, is also a hotspot for property hunters looking for a slice of authentic British countryside. Data from AB Drylining reveals that homes on Rocks Green Crescent have been sold for around £80,750, while those on Old Street and Gravel Hill have fetched prices of £87,264 and £88,540 respectively. Budget-friendly options can also be found on Sandpits Avenue and New Street, with prices at £91,500 and £91,813.

Surrounded by stunning landscapes, Ludlow offers ample opportunities for cycling, walking and nature exploration. The nearby Mortimer Forest, an ancient Saxon hunting ground, boasts numerous trails and footpaths.
