The PS5

Grab a bargain on the original PS5 at Currys with new price cuts before Black Friday

If the PS5 Pro's price tag is a bit out of your price range, Currys has some early deals on the original PS5 that might be more to your liking. The retailer has slashed the price of the PS5 slim console to £370 just in time for Black Friday, which is a pretty sweet deal, especially if the cost of the new PS5 Pro gives you pause.

There are also some fantastic bundle deals available, where you can snag a PS5 and some of the latest games. If you're in the market for a new console, it's worth keeping an eye on what Currys has to offer.

And if you think you could stretch your budget to accommodate the PS5 Pro, Currys has some attractive deals and offers the option to spread the cost. Our colleagues at the Daily Express recently shared their thoughts on the new console - you can read that here.

For hardcore gamers like myself who care about frame rates and resolution and making your games look their best, it's definitely worth the investment. One game I was eager to test out was Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

When I first played it, the graphics were frankly terrible, with a strange blur that made me feel like my glasses weren't strong enough. But the PS5 Pro has completely transformed the game's visuals.

Instead of a blurry distance, there's now an option to output an upscaled 4K resolution at 60fps, compared to the standard console's 4K 30 or lower resolution at 60fps.

The PS5 eradicates that, and the game looks fantastic. Background textures and imagery are stunning – but Final Fantasy isn't the only game that's had a visual boost.

Horizon Forbidden West has also received some impressive upgrades. Compared to the inconsistent FPS drops I experienced with the original PS5, these issues are now non-existent and the image quality is far more vibrant compared to the old console.

It feels much closer to games on my high-end PC rather than playing an older console – one of my biggest complaints with the original PS5.
