Thousands of families counting on a Greenberg Smoked Turkey for Thanksgiving may now be getting their holiday meal at the last minute.

Owner Sam Greenberg told NBC 5 that his team noticed several turkey shipments were not moving out of the FedEx hub in Hutchins on Sunday. After contacting FedEx, they learned deliveries across North Texas would be delayed by a full day.

That means customers of the Tyler-based smokehouse who expected their turkey on Wednesday will instead get it on Thanksgiving Day.

Greenberg said it has been a chaotic 48 hours as his team scrambled to identify and reach every customer affected by the shipping delay.

"Any customer, anybody that ordered a turkey, if they didn't get it, we're going to make it right," Greenberg said, adding that any customer having an issue with their order can give them a call.

FedEx told NBC 5 they've been working directly with customers to resolve any delivery issues and have implemented contingencies to ensure shipments are delivered before the holiday.
