Qatar’s total contract value in Q1-26 leaps to $8.8bn – Kamco Invest

Mubasher: The total value of contracts awarded in Qatar hit $8.8 billion in the first quarter (Q1) of 2026, reflecting a strong increase of 62.1% from $5.5 billion in Q1-25, Kamco Invest said based on data from MEED Projects.

This expansion in contract awards was principally driven by a substantial surge in the value of projects within Qatar's gas sector, which recorded a nearly two-fold increase to $8.2 billion in January-March 2026 compared to $4.3 billion in Q1-25.

The gas sector constituted over 93% of the total contracts awarded in the country during Q1-26, which was mainly due to the recent $8 billion investment committed by Qatar for the purpose of building two new LNG processing trains with a total capacity of 16 million tons per year.

On the other hand, total contracts awarded in Qatar's construction sector dipped 2.2% annually to $610 million at the end of March 2026, compared to $624 million in Q1-25.

Among the GCC countries, Kuwait recorded the highest quarterly level in more than 21 quarters in terms of the total value of projects awarded in the January-March 2026 period.
