Move Over Inflation: Bargain Mart Brings Deep Discounts to Amarillo

· NewsTalk 1290

Let's face it, we are tired of just watching prices grow and grow in Amarillo. It seems like everything is going up except for our paychecks. That does add a lot of stress to families just trying to get by.

So if we can find any way to save money, we embrace it. In fact, we get excited about it. If that means we can get a little bit extra for the family with the savings, we feel that is a big win.

Over the weekend, I discovered a place that just opened whose main business is to save us money. Yes, I had to go and check it out. The new place is called Bargain Mart, and just the name lets us know we can expect some great prices.

They moved into the shopping center at Western and Hillside. The same shopping center that used to house Panhandle Salvage. This store is not associated with them in any way, but they did give out a lot of the same vibes.

Navigating the Shelves: The Bargain Mart "Treasure Hunt" Experience

They moved into the former Dollar General at 5811 S Western. The good news is they are open 9 am through 7 pm every day but Sundays. It's one of those places that you never know what will be on the shelves, and that is half of the fun.

The moment you walk in, the staff greets you with a friendly welcome. They will also advise you to grab a cart because they know you will find all kinds of great savings. They are correct. Might as well grab that cart early on.

The 25-Cent Bread Deal: A Game Changer for Families

The first thing that grabbed my attention was the bread price. All bread was just 25 cents. That includes hot dog and hamburger buns. They even carried the bread that my family eats, Sara Lee's Artesano Golden Wheat Bread. They had plenty of bread available, and you can't beat the price.

I spoke with owner David Tisdale, who was on-site ensuring the grand opening ran without a hitch. He said they opened up on Friday without any notice, and the number of people who already found out about them was amazing.

He said that the inventory comes from all over the United States. This is his third Bargain Mart. There is one in Big Spring, one in the Austin area, and now the one here.

Feeding Six for Under $15: David Tisdale’s Vision for Savings

David said you would be surprised that you can find stuff in the store to feed a family of 6 for under $15. He can prove it.

Shopping at Bargain Mart is fun and can be an adventure. You never know what you will find on the shelves, and just be warned, it might not last long. If you find something, grab it right away; it may not be there the next time you look. Inventory is always changing.

I found some really cool Goldfish brand S'mores snacks that I know my granddaughter would love. A snack that I have never seen in the stores before. They carry a lot of everything. They have meat, snacks, canned goods, even the shampoos, deodorants, and lotions you may be looking for.

You’re going to save a bundle, just make sure you grab a cart on your way in; you're going to need it.
