Used electric car sales in Netherlands nearly double in April
Sales of used electric cars in the Netherlands nearly doubled in April to 13,791 vehicles, according to the industry group BOVAG. The figure is almost twice that of April of the previous year. A BOVAG spokesperson said consumers may be guided in their car choices by sharply higher fuel prices.
The upswing continues a trend that BOVAG first highlighted in March. Overall, used-car sales slipped slightly, with 169,570 vehicles sold compared with 173,430 a year earlier.
BOVAG called the increase in electric used-car sales striking. The market share of used electric cars also rose to more than 8 percent.
Import and export figures also reflected the growing demand for used electric cars. Imports of vehicles doubled last month, while exports decreased. On balance, however, more electric cars were exported from the Netherlands than imported.
