NVM Open House Day draws 66,000 prospective buyers as nearly 14,500 homes open doors

The NVM real estate association’s Open House Day drew a large crowd on Saturday. Roughly 66,000 prospective buyers visited the participating homes-more than at the previous edition in March, when NVM Open House Day attracted 52,000 visitors.

Agents point in part to Saturday’s sunny weather. More homeowners also opened their properties for viewing this time. Between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., house hunters could walk through nearly 14,500 homes without an appointment.

A wave of rental properties being put up for sale has also increased the supply of homes for purchase this year. In March, only 8,900 homes for sale took part.

According to the NVM, some viewings produced immediate results. In Rosmalen, a house was sold to visitors that Saturday afternoon, while an office in Apeldoorn reported at least three offers. The highest recorded turnout was at a home in Arnhem, where the organizers counted 66 visitors.
