Plastic Factory in Hmawbi Fined Over K150 Million for Power Theft
A plastic manufacturing business in Hmawbi Township, Yangon Region, has been fined more than K151 million and faces legal action after authorities uncovered the illegal use of electricity, according to the Ministry of Electricity and Energy. During surprise inspections conducted on 16 June, officials found that the factory’s electricity meter had been tampered with. Investigators discovered altered seals and an internal control circuit that enabled the unlawful consumption of electricity.
