Sensex opens 170 points higher, Nifty above 24,300; Eternal up 2%

The BSE Sensex gained 286.98 points, or 0.37%, to close at 77,656.09, while the Nifty 50 advanced 115.50 points, or 0.48%, to end at 24,334.55.

The rebound came after a bruising run for Dalal Street, with the Nifty having fallen for seven straight sessions before Thursday as elevated crude oil prices and rising global bond yields hurt risk appetite.
