ACC Musculoskeletal Claims Continue To Climb As West Auckland Households Seek Local Care
Musculoskeletal injuries now account for more than 40% of all "week away from work" ACC claims in New Zealand, according to WorkSafe's overview of work-related harm published in mid-2024. The cost of ACC's weekly payments to injured workers rose from $1.85 billion in 2022 to $2.47 billion in 2024, while ACC's total cost of supporting injured New Zealanders climbed from under $1 billion in 2004 to nearly $4.4 billion by 2024. Long-term shifts in work patterns, including more sedentary roles and an ageing workforce, have continued to drive demand for allied health services that address spinal and joint conditions.
