Indonesia’s international visitor arrivals are on track to return to pre-pandemic levels in 2026, but the wider tourism industry has yet to fully recover, with accommodation occupancy and air passenger numbers remaining below 2019 levels, according to the Confederation of Indonesian Tourism Associations (GIPI).

Indonesia’s coordinating minister for economic affairs Airlangga Hartarto has called on tourism stakeholders to develop events combining sports, music and cultural entertainment to attract more international visitors, alongside promoting the country’s natural attractions.
