In a surprise check, sleuths attached to the Madurai district unit of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption seized ₹13.88 lakh from the office of the Sub-Registrar, Kalligudi. According to a DVAC source, the check was conducted based on specific information that Rajeswari, Assistant Sub-Registrar (in-charge), was demanding bribe from people coming for registration, and document writers.
