Life of Aqeel Yousafzai in danger after he exposed JUI-F and TTP direct relations
by Central Desk · Dispatch News DeskIslamabad, Pakistan: Justice Muhammad Asif of Islamabad High Court has fixed September 28 for next hearing petition of APNA TV Channel against PEMRA.
According to details a writ petition No.4488/2026 filed against illegal demands of PEMRA for on account of renewal of License of M/s. APNA TV Channel Limted/ Aab Takk News was fixed today before Jutice Muhammad Asif of IHC.
Counsel for Petitioner Shahid Mehmood Khokhar ASC submitted that respondents are using delaying tactics to decide the pending application for renewal of STV License since 22.02.2022, but instead of deciding the application PEMRA is demanding illegal renewal fee which was determined by PEMRA in August 2025 on the basis of PEMRA Amendment Act 2023, which was promulgated on 17.08.2023, thus the amendment was prospective in nature and cannot be given retrospective effect under the law. Thus any demand on the basis of the said Act could not be made applicable on the earlier filed applications, as PEMRA is bound by law to decide the application within 100 days. But in the instant case despite lapse of more than 4 and a half years PEMRA has been failed to decide the same.
* After hearing the preliminary arguments advanced by Counsel for Petitioner, the court was pleased to issue notices to the Respondents and to suspend the impugned notices of PEMRA. Matter is adjourned for 28th September 2026.
