Islamabad shocked over conduct of Afghan Ambassador who released NDU address publicly

Monitoring Desk: Pakistan is attending XI Eastern Economic Forum at Vladivostok, Russia and Pakistan’s envoy Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi is the first-ever Pakistani Ambassador who has travelled as far as Kamchatka, Russia to attend the event. 

Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi will address session on “Creative Far East: From Local Brands to Exporting to the Asia-Pacific” during the XI Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) on September 3. The Forum is being held in Vladivostok from 1–4 September 2026. The session will bring together policymakers and leading voices from the creative and business sectors to discuss the potential of creative industries as a driver of economic growth, innovation, employment and stronger engagement with the Asia-Pacific region.

Creative Far East: From Local Brands to Exporting to the Asia-Pacific will discuss the potential of the creative industries in the Russian Far East that can become a key driver of the region’s economic growth and a tool for integration into the Asia-Pacific region. Developing this sector will help diversify the economy of the Russian Far East, create jobs, and bolster Russia’s position in the Asia Pacific through the export of films, animation, fashion, and urban design. To do this, however, challenges related to industry governance, infrastructure development, and overcoming barriers to entering foreign markets must first be addressed.

Held in Vladivostok, Russia’s important gateway to the Asia-Pacific, the Forum provides a significant platform for dialogue on regional economic cooperation and new avenues for international partnership. Ambassador Tirmizi’s participation will bring a Pakistani perspective to this important discussion, with a focus on the potential for greater cooperation in creative industries, innovation, connectivity and people-to-people ties.

Talking to Russia media outlets such as RIA, Sputnik and RT, Ambassador Tirmizi said that under the leadeeship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and by the direction of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan Ishaq Dar, Pakistan is giving special attention to its bilateral relations with Russian Federation and attending XI Eastern Economic Forum is providing an exceptional opportunity to Pakistan to place itself at Russian public diplomatic sphere. He was of the view that Kamchatka is unbelievable place, and Pakistan wants to reach everywhere in Russia. He stated that Pakistani art has already taken New York and London and Moscow and Vladivostok are next because Pakistani cinema and music have yet to find their audience in Russia and other Eurasian markets. The key bottleneck, according to Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, is language—but technology, he believes, is changing the game.

“There are issues; one is language, frankly!” the ambassador told Sputnik on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum. “But I believe technology is breaking a lot of barriers right now, so we can collaborate with Russia and Pakistan, and other countries of the SCO can collaborate together—both in music, film production, and mini-series.”

Ambassador Tirmizi stated Pakistani art is already exhibited in leading galleries in New York, London, and Paris and expressed hope that it would find its place in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Vladivostok. Russian artists, music, and theater, he added, should likewise find audiences in Pakistan.

“The thing is, you have to take the first step!” the ambassador said. “There is a beautiful Chinese saying, ‘The journey of a thousand miles starts with a step. ‘So, we have started taking the first step”, he added.

It may be mentioned that Pakistan’s Ambassador who is avid nature explorer and known among diplomats for his hiking, cycling, scuba diving and swimming visited the Zapovednaya Kamchatka Environmental Education Centre of the Kronotsky State Nature Reserve in Yelizovo during his working visit to Kamchatka. The diplomat explored an exhibition dedicated to the nature of the peninsula. He paid particular attention to modern multimedia technologies and sculptures depicting Kamchatka’s wildlife, including the wild reindeer, Steller’s sea eagle, and other inhabitants of the region.

Following the tour, the sides discussed nature conservation and opportunities for cooperation in ecotourism and biodiversity conservation. Representatives of the Kronotsky Reserve noted that the visit could pave the way for an exchange of scientific expertise between Russia and Pakistan. The Ambassador then took a boat trip to Starichkov Island in Avacha Bay, where he observed a variety of seabirds, including gulls, auklets, puffins, guillemots, and cormorants.

“I was pleasantly surprised by the combination of modern media technologies with traditional approaches to creating museum exhibitions. I greatly enjoyed the immersive nature videos and taking photographs with sculptures of Kamchatka’s rare animals, which are remarkable for their beauty and power, including the wild reindeer, the huge Steller’s sea eagle, and others. These species do not inhabit our country, which made it all the more interesting to discover your unique wildlife and listen to the guide’s stories,” Faisal Niaz Tirmizi said.

According to Kamchatka Krai News Agency, during his visit, the Ambassador met with Kamchatka Krai Governor Vladimir Solodov. The sides highlighted the importance of the Ambassador’s visit and expressed interest in further developing cooperation.

Faisal Niaz Tirmizi visited Kamchatka State Technical University (KamchatGTU), where he discussed with Rector Sergey Levkov potential cooperation between the Russian university and Pakistani universities, including student exchanges. The Ambassador also visited Vitus Bering Kamchatka State University, where he familiarized himself with the university’s academic programmes, research projects, and key areas of activity.

RIA Novosti reported Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, has made the first-ever visit by a Pakistani ambassador to the Kamchatka Krai in the history of relations between Moscow and Islamabad. During his visit, he met with Kamchatka Governor Vladimir Solodov and visited two leading universities in the region, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Moscow reported. No previous head of the Pakistani Embassy in Russia had made an official visit to Kamchatka.
