Richard E Grant shows off vast trinkets collection at his London home
by LAURA FOX, ASSOCIATE SHOWBUSINESS EDITOR · Mail OnlineHe's one of the UK's most respected actors with an illustrious film career to match.
And Richard E Grant has shown the vast collection of trinkets that he's accrued from his lengthy time in the spotlight in a video posted on Instagram on Thursday.
The actor, 68, displayed how he's decorated his west London home with stunning Christmas decorations and nik-naks ahead of welcoming guests this festive season.
His video showed that alongside a beautifully decorated Christmas tree, he had lined every corner of the room with pictures, ornaments and colourful hanging pieces.
The house also features Richard's sweet tributes to his late wife Joan, with photos of her proudly placed on a table in the living room.
Richard previously shared that the home, originally built in 1840, was first built as a Georgian rectory, and had previously showed off the jaw-dropping Christmas decorations on the property.
The living room was also filled with paisley printed sofas and delicately embroidered cushions, with Richard then displaying the beautifully laid dining table ahead of dinner with his 'American friends.'
He captioned his post: 'Love that moment of anticipation, just before the guests arrive, candles and fire lit, drinks at the ready, food all prepped and the delight of having a pre-Christmas feast with American friends who are leaving this weekend.'
Richard had previously showed off the lavish Christmas decorations that were surrounding his west London home.
The actor had previously shared that he was forced to sell his holiday home in the French Riviera as it became 'too painful' to return to the property after the death of his wife Joan Washington in 2021.
Richard offered a glimpse of his Christmas tree before showing the baubles that have decorated his garden, which he previously shared were taken from a Jo Malone festive display.
The star's London home is filled with treasures from his marriage to wife Joan, including antiques, artefacts, paintings and souvenirs from his film career.
As well as adorning his home with twinkling lights, the back door features huge star decorations, while the interior is covered with festive ornaments.
Last month, Richard shared that he decided to sell his French holiday home that he and his wife Joan shared, as it was 'too painful' to return to the property after her death.
Writing for The Times about his years of travel, Richard opened up about how he couldn't return to the Provence farmhouse he and Jane renovated after she passed away.

Richard E. Grant says European hotspots so overcrowded he only goes out at night to avoid tourists
The couple restored the farmhouse shortly after the birth of their daughter Olivia and returned as a family for 33 summers after.
But the holiday home did not feel the same without his late wife, and with a 'heavy heart' he decided to sell it.
He said: 'I tried going back to Provence on my own after Joan died, but found it too painful. With a very heavy heart I sold the house.'
Richard recalled wholesome days at the home spent swimming, playing badminton and cooking - as well as grabbing black truffle baguettes from La Petite Maison, which he was introduced to for the first time by Elton John.
Earlier this year while speaking to The Sunday Times Culture Magazine, Richard admitted that he 'hasn't really thought about' finding a new partner since Joan's death.
He said: 'The idea of being 67 and three quarters and taking my kit off is so mortifying, I'd have to be in a Krakatoan cave without a crack of light.
'That may change. I'm hopeful-minded and open-hearted but I'm not looking for it.'
Richard added that he doesn't feel 'lonely' due to his close relationship with his daughter Olivia and her husband, who both live with him.
The veteran actor had also previously shared that his 'hilarious' wife ruled out eligible women for him before she died.
Dialect coach Joan tragically passed away in September 2021 aged 74, eight months after she was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer.
The Withnail And I star has been extremely candid about his grief in the years since Joan's death.
Richard has also previously shared what made him realise his late wife really loved him.
Speaking on The Lulu Podcast: Turning Points, Richard said of Joan: 'She was hilarious - a month before she died, she went through all the women, the women who were either single, divorced or available or widowed, that we knew, and she basically went through all of them like a lioness and gave me a reason why I shouldn't pursue any of them.
'And I knew how much she loved me by doing that...' he added.
Richard went on to share Joan's reaction to him finally meeting his idol, the iconic Barbra Streisand.
'They say you should never meet your idols... and after I had this conversation with her and came back to London, and Joan said - even though she was then 79 years old – "If she wasn't married to James Brolin, would you still jump her bones?"' Richard said.
'And I said, "Darling, you know the answer to that." And she said – "Well, I've got you, you're never getting away."'
Of finding love again, Richard said: 'I have no expectation that I will fall in love again, which is not to say that it couldn't or wouldn't happen, I'm not there on a dating app trying to find it.
'I feel fulfilled and sustained without feeling like I've lost my better half, which I have.'
The actor also revealed he is still so in love with his late wife that he emails her each night.
Richard said: 'I have no woolly spiritual delusion that she's hearing this, or that I'm going to get a response, but it somehow keeps the connection going.
'So I write to her – "Dear J, today would really have amused you..." It makes it feel like that person is still there – it's an ongoing conversation.'
