Peaky Blinders fans, rejoice! The official trailer for upcoming Netflix film: The Immortal Man has dropped.

Cillian Murphy, 49, who has played Birmingham baddie Tommy Shelby throughout the BBC hit, will return amongst the star-studded line-up ahead of its release next year.

It's been a long wait for fans of the franchise, with creator Steven Knight first teasing the release of a film back in 2021 - with a spin-off series also in the works.

The film will pick up four years after viewers last said goodbye to the Shelby clan in the series finale of Peaky Blinders.

The brand new trailer shows Tommy answering a ringing phone, delivering a classic line: 'It's Tommy Shelby.'

He follows up with: 'The famous gypsy gangster,' before he adds: 'I'm not that man anymore.'

A synopsis for the upcoming film reads: 'Tommy Shelby is driven back from a self-imposed exile to face his most destructive reckoning yet.

'With the future of the family and the country at stake, Tommy must face his own demons, and choose whether to confront his legacy, or burn it to the ground.

'By order of the Peaky Blinders…'

In good news for fans of the show, it will feature a mix of old and new characters.

Alongside Cillian, 49, will feature Hollywood stars Barry Keoghan (Saltburn) and Dune's Rebecca Ferguson, as well as Scouse legend and star of Adolescence, Stephen Graham.

Others that will make an appearance in the film include Tim Roth, Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee, Ian Peck and Jay Lycurgo.

Dune actress Rebecca, 42, who is new to the Peaky Blinders franchise, revealed it was a 'no brainer' to sign up for the highly anticipated project.

She told the Radio Times: 'I wanted to work with Cillian for a very long time, and we have the same agent, so I've been constantly calling saying, "What's up? What's going on? What are we doing?"

Meanwhile, Cillian's on-screen sister Ada (played by Sophie Rundle) will also make a return to the film, continuing her integral part in the family saga as Tommy's sister and a key figure in the business.

The actress has been spotted on set, and she's expected to be a major part of the feature-length continuation of the series.

Filming for the movie took place at St Georges Hall in Liverpool last year, with loud bangs being heard by the public.

The cast was gathered outside as the historic building was turned into an air raid shelter while multiple explosions went off.

Bright orange lighting and smoke was seen coming from the area to replicate the flames as the cast filmed by night.

No main members of the cast could be made out in the explosions and it appeared to be extra members of the cast who gathered outside.

'When this came it was a no-brainer for me. What's fun is coming into a world that is so sedimented, it's so rooted, it has such a profound following, it's quite scary.

'It was an honour, the fact that they trusted me to do it – because it's a huge movie.'

The first look poster shows Cillian's Tommy on top of his horse, just as she was shown at the end of the hit series as he rode off into isolation.

While it will be made available to view in select cinemas from March 6, 2026, the wider public will be able to stream on Netflix from March 20.

Speaking to Empire, Cillian discussed filming his final scene for The Immortal Man - and why the experience didn't fully live up to expectation.

He revealed: 'We were on the side of a hill in the Peak District somewhere, in the p*****g rain, and we were losing the light.

'But it was a really emotional scene.'

The Oscar-winning star explained how 'everyone just drove off' after shooting the scene in question.

Although filming has wrapped on The Immortal Man, Cillian added: 'I don't think I'm going to be able to process it or think about it until the film comes out, because I believe that a film isn't finished until people look at it.'

Peaky Blinders is available to stream on both Netflix and BBC iPlayer.
