ITV accused of 'shameless' advertising for Amazon in latest episode
by DOLLY BUSBY, SHOWBIZ REPORTER IN QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA · Mail OnlineITV has been accused of 'shameless' advertising for Amazon products on I'm A Celebrity.
On Tuesday night's episode McFly's Danny Jones, 38, and Coronation Street's Alan Halsall, 42, were able to earn their campmates luxury items chosen by their family watching at home.
Arriving at the 'Jungle Delivery Centre', the pair had to answer questions about the other contestants to win a luxury item - so far packaged in an unmarked box bearing just the celebrity's name.
But when the items later arrived in camp, they were packaged in a clearly marked Amazon delivery box and were placed on camera in the Bush Telegraph - the confessional room where the celebrities address the public.
As Alan, 42, carried it down, the Loose Women panellist Jane Moore, 62, shouted: 'He's carrying an Amazon box!'
BBC Radio 1's Dean McCullough added: 'Seeing Alan carrying that Amazon box…'
Viewers were quick to point out the 'shameless' product placement of Amazon and questioned whether the corporation was getting a free plug or was now an unannounced sponsor of the ITV flagship show.
One person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: 'Does anyone remember the product placement warning at the beginning of the show? Why is Amazon getting a massive plug?'
Another added: 'Anyone else notice the incredibly subtle #Amazon product placement?'
While someone else wrote: 'Is I'm A Celebrity now sponsored by Amazon.'
MailOnline have contact ITV for comment.
Gathered around the campfire, the camp eagerly awaited the arrival of their luxury items.
But there was a twist this year as all luxury items won in the day’s challenge have been chosen by the campmate’s loved ones.
Coleen Rooney was delighted with her gift - a personalised pillow with a photo of her husband Wayne and four sons on it.
Other gifts were less well received as Alan was bemused by his golf putter.
Oti meanwhile received the gift of music, being entitled 3 plays of her favourite song ‘Bon Jovi- It’s My Life’, much to the camp's delight.
