Girl, 17, is raped and sexually assaulted as teenagers are charged

Two teenagers have been arrested after a 17-year-old girl was raped and sexually assaulted in Coventry.

A 17-year-old boy was charged with rape after the girl was attacked on Sunday March 15 in Rowleys Green, while an 18-year-old man was charged with sexual assault.

Both are set to appear at Warwick Crown Court on April 15.

Police had closed part of Longford Canal as part of the alleged rape investigation.

West Midlands Police told CoventryLive: 'We have charged two teenagers after a 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted and raped in the Rowleys Green area of Coventry on March 15.

'An 18-year-old boy has been charged with sexual assault and a 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with rape.

'Both are next due to appear at Warwick Crown Court on April 15.'
